What is the Bobath method?

It is a holistic approach, in which the qualified therapist assesses the deviations and the quality of movement and functionality. It is used to detect the problems of gross and fine motor skills, with basic knowledge of the child’s physiological development. It optimizes movement where there are deficits. It also sets and implements an individualized treatment plan and suggests special aids in collaboration with other specialties. Moreover, it emphasizes the quality of movement and the prevention of compensations, to avoid future musculoskeletal deformities.

Functional physiotherapy in children

It is a method that aims at the child’s independence and interaction with the environment. In particular, emphasis is placed on the performance of activities and less on the quality of movement. The advantage of this method is that the child has an active role in the treatment and focuses on his/her level of ability.
